The EastCoast Busa's Motorcycle Club, in collaboration with National Organization For People of Color Against Suicide (NOPCAS), is sponsoring its first annual suicide awareness ride in honor of Mark Humphries on Saturday, July 24, 2010. The ride will depart from the EastCoast Busa's Club House 5028 Beech Place in Temple Hills, Maryland 20748 at 1PM SHARP and take a nice ride that will end back at EastCoast Busas Club house ((ALL CLUBS & VEHICLES ARE WELCOME!!!!)) Guest Speakers: Dr. Lonise Bias (motivational Speaker) & Ryan Moats(NFL Running Back Houston Texans) will also be in attendance.
NOPCAS is 501c (3) organization currently focusing on educating and servicing community-based organizations on suicide prevention and intervention. As you may know, more teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, and influenza and chronic lung disease combined. Suicide takes the lives of more than 31,000 Americans every year. Notable deaths in our own families are Mark Humphries, Mark Barnes, and William T. Powell, Jr.
We operate primarily with minority communities and institutions that are generally discounted in areas of suicide prevention. To combat this problem, we are currently focusing on creating training materials, manuals, videos and DVDs for dissemination so that a majority of minority community institutions in the DC, Virginia, and Maryland areas will be able to include suicide prevention in their services.
This fundraiser is not just for motorcycle clubs or motorcyclist its open to social clubs / van clubs & car clubs alike & the general Public . PLEASE come out and enjoy food, Fun & Games for the Kids ,good music and support a great cause!
